Hi People!
I know you all want the healthiest and most cooperative hair. This tool is your absolute secret weapon: the famed Heat Protector! I have used SO many brands over the years both on my own hair and behind the chair on clients. This is a list of my top 3. I have them in no particular order with some details to help you choose the best one for your hair type. Please, Pleeease do not put any type of heat to your hair, no not even "just this once really quick this morning". Every small amount of heat damage is exactly that, micro damage and it all adds up. It's really not that big of a deal if you're rocking a pixie. However, if you have long hair, short hair that you don't want to go any shorter, colored hair, textured hair, hair, make sure to protect it. Look, I'm not one to harass people (unless its my husband and he says no to eating out Mexican food) but I do get very close when my friends and sisters don't use heat protector. Say yes to no crispy ends!

This is an oldie but goodie fav of mine, Paul Mitchel's Hot Off The Press.
I have been using this one on and off since cosmetology school 13 years ago! It is good for all hair types, best for hard to stay curled hair. It has light hairspray-like hold to really keep your style.

Next is AG Firewall
This one is heavy. It is amazing for thick, course, and dry hair. My hair is a crazy mixture of wavy/curly and is very dry. This one might be a bit much for hair on the finer side.

Now onto my recently-moved-to-the-top-of-the-list, golden child: IGK Good Behavior
The smell of this one alone does it for me! This one is perfect for every hair texture, thickness, style. It's not too light, and not too heavy. The only thing that I would consider a slight disadvantage is that the spray lingers in the air a bit. It's a delicious smelling product cloud but maybe not the greatest for your lungs long term. In all honesty, I don't let my daughter play in the bathroom while I spray it. I usually give it a couple minutes to dissipate.

Here are some things I look for in a heat protector:
Is it a professional brand? (Yes I'm a brand snob hairstylist, yes I believe if you can buy it at target it still can be a pro product. Yes if it is Pantene or Tresseme just throw it straight into the garbage whoops!)
Is it gluten free?
Will the can last me quite a few applications? (I'm a mother of 2 in diapers, I'm not made out of money here.)
Would I feel 100% confident in telling my sisters and best friends to use it?
It is an aerosol? (There are a lot of good heat protecting oils out there but I truly believe an aerosol will give you the most protection and coverage.)
*Bonus tip for reading this far... Find a heat protector that works for your hair type that you can spray from roots to ends. Please do not just spray a lil spritzy spritz on your ends and call it a day. Eventually the mid shaft of your hair will become the ends and you want the hair as healthy as it can be when it gets to that point. It is going to be much easier to prevent damaged hair than to repair it.
One more thing, I have all of these products linked to Amazon so you can Very easily "one click" order. As an Amazon Associate I do earn from qualifying purchases. Happy shopping!
